Following the release of Office 2007 SP1, we have recently carried out further testing of SC@MS on the MS Vista/Office 2007 platform.
We are extremely pleased to report that Office 2007 SP1 appears to have resolved many of the speed issues that we reported in 2007, when we were unable to recommend an upgrade to our clients at that stage.
We have also been able to overcome the immense problems that are caused in practice (as widely reported) by being unable to open documents that are created in Office 2007 in pre-office 2007 browsers.
Consequently, we are now able to endorse Vista/Office 2007 for users of the SC@MS software and indeed some of our clients have already upgraded to this platform.
Having said this and for the avoidance of doubt, there is no need to upgrade to Vista/Office 2007 for the purposes of using SC@MS. Indeed our clients have done so not out of choice, but rather because of the inability to obtain pre-Office 2007 OEM versions. SC@MS will continue to operate perfectly on our preferred platform of Windows XP/Office 2003 or earlier versions (from Windows 95/Office 2000 upwards) and we shall continue to support our clients, existing or new, with these systems.
We should emphasise that the above comments consist of our own opinions, none of which should be interpreted as statements of fact, whether in relation to the products that we have referred to or indeed Microsoft products generally.
